About the Founder

A Legacy of Dance

Time to Dance was founded by Karen Pfrommer, a lifelong dancer, teacher, and mentor who has dedicated her career to sharing the joy of ballroom dance.

Karen began teaching in 1982 in Boston, Massachusetts, and opened her first studio, Dance In Rhythm, in 1991. Certified by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), she has spent decades training students of all ages, from social dancers to national competitors. In addition to leading her own studios, Karen served as an adjunct professor at Quinnipiac University for over 20 years and was the coach of the Yale Ballroom Dance Team and Club. Beyond her studio work, Karen also launched ballroom line dance programs in community centers throughout the state, including North Branford, Madison, and Guilford, helping to bring dance into local neighborhoods and introduce countless new students to the joy of movement.

After successfully running Dance In Rhythm for more than 30 years, Karen opened Time to Dance in Branford to continue her legacy, offering a modern, community-driven space built on the same values that have guided her entire career: dance should be joyful, welcoming, and fun.
